SOTD 12/28/09
Happy Holidays all. I am still recovering from all the salty foods and non stop eating that is the Holiday Spirit! Slowly trying to get back into the groove of things, here's a quick sketch of the day. Can you tell what I have been watching a lot of lately as I work?

Also, a couple characters I have been working on for a retelling of A Christmas Carol. From left to right, Tiny Tim, Cratchet and Scrooge. This story will have a Victorian/Steampunk flavor to it s more to come from these characters.

Any suggestions for what my next sketch of the day topic should be? Drop a comment and see if I pick it!
Enjoy!

A little different for the sketch of the day. Been working on composition and thumbnails for environments. A lot of these are based off of reference but I try and change the camera angles and am working on my indication and design of buildings and foliage.

More of these to come. Hope you enjoy the change of pace.

SOTD 12/17/09 and more concepts
"This is for....MA-TIL-D-A."

These were the first round of concepts for the Aeropan citizens of the Daxter and Jak game I worked on. My art director told me this weren't sticking to the Daxter world enough so I had to do more research and revise them. That's one thing you always have to keep in mind, do not fall in love with your designs because there is always, ALWAYS, going to be changes. After this initial pass I was on the mark more with those designs I posted earlier. Next up I will show you the final color for these guys and the reference I used to help influence the costuming.

Interview and Sketch of the Day
So last week I was interviewed by industry veteran Jack Enyart. He worked on some of the best cartoons like Scooby Doo, Woody Woodpecker and my personal favorite, the Bionic Six. It was a real treat to be interviewed by him because I was raised on those toons and they helped shape my humor and sense of storytelling.

Jack interviews local LA artists that jump in the gallery and commercial scene. Shout out to my boy Adrian for hooking me up with the interview.
Here is a link to the interview, I am not sure how long it will be up so check it out while you can. I was a bit nervous in the beginning and stumbled on a couple of words here and there but all in all it was a great experience.
Now on to some artwork, here are some sketches of the day that I owe you. I will be getting back to these as a daily thing and will be posting more concept art so stay tuned.
First up, mini-Dragon.

Next, female pirate/buccaneer.

Mumm-ra tribute.

Badass that shoots first and never asks questions.

Hope you enjoy, more to come!

Sketches of the Day and Concept Art Dump
Here are a few more sketches of the day, I promise I will catch up with these.
First off, S#!! Happens.

Next up, Download complete.

Also, here is some concept art I did for the PSP Daxter and Jak game Lost Frontier.
Over the next couple of weeks I'll post some of the character work I did for this game. First up are some concepts for the Aeropan citizens. They told me to reference Turkish clothing and colors for these designs.

Next time, I will post some of the early, early designs I did for these guys before I got to this look.

Sketches of the day and an art dump
Sorry for the long hiatus, lotta family time and the start of the holidays, but I am getting back into the swing of things. I have been drawing but know just getting back to posting. Thanks to all who look at this for your patience. In the meantime, here are some goodies I have been working on.
The last hoorah!

Hot chick with a gun.

Kinda looks like the same girl, but I was thinking if The Punisher was a girl or if he had a daughter.

Character demos of buccaneers for my students.

Mining engineer spacesuit design, 50 years into the future.

This last one is from my solo show back in October, "Cereal Killer." I just wanted you guys to see the process of my pencils to a finish.

Hope this makes up for my lack of posting. More to come!
