Tuckered Out

While out eating lunch with the wife, I saw a kid with her dog. Seriously, the dog was HUGE and it was the interaction between the kid and wolf-dog that was awesome. When I have kids I am getting them a wolf, especially if I have daughters....lol.

DOODLE DEE

Just a quick sketch for the night. I had nothing planned when drawing this just messing around with some color and lighting. Sometimes you just need to do a random image and draw without any pre-planning involved. It can be nerve racking but quite freeing at the same time.

You Shall Not Pass "Baddies"

A few posts ago I shared an illustration that was my take on an awesome heroic journey. The original concept was to have both good guys and bad guys incorporated into it but the composition was starting to get a bit crammed. Instead, I decided to do a second take on the journey with a few alterations here and there.

I was really happy with this one because I was able to use a different lighting scheme and incorporate darker elements that I have never really played with before (rain and puddles). It was a great learning experience and I had a ton of fun doing it. I plan on making this one into a print so leave a comment or send me an email if you are interested.

Thanks for stopping by.

RECAP

Thank you again to everyone who showed up and supported us during the the book release party of "The Adventures of Super Bunny and Giant Cat Bear and Charlie" at the Happy Six Store on Sawtelle this past Saturday. It was a great success and we sold out that night. However, we are taking online orders here and we will be back in stock ASAP so do not fret.
Here are a few images from that evening.

All I remember was putting my head down to draw at 7:00 p.m. and all of a sudden I looked up to see a huge line in front of me. I was quite shocked.

Here are some happy guests that got sketches from me; thanks again for waiting in line!

Future Bandit in the making!

DRAW, DRAW, DRAW!

Co-creators showing off our mugs.

How do I feel right now?.....It was well worth it but if you need me I will be resting my hand. In the meantime, my drawing monkey will resume all my artistic duties for a bit.

Thank you to everyone and special thanks to our gracious host Sophie Snow for letting us have the book release at her store.

Next post will have more art so stay tuned!

EXCLUSIVE PRINT AVAILABLE THIS WEEKEND ONLY

Reminder, the book release party is this Saturday, Feb. 11, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the
Happy Six store in Los Angeles.
We will be signing the books and if you purchase a book that evening you will get a free sketch from yours truly!

For more info please click on the image below.

Also, available only that evening, we will have an exclusive print for sale to celebrate the launch of our children's book. We have a limited number of the prints so make sure to drop by early so you can take one home with you.

Lastly, just some random sketches. I try to do these weekly just to stay loose and get warmed up for the week of drawing. A lot of these are just practice sketches; I'm just trying out new shapes and color combinations. Practice makes perfect so do not be afraid to make mistakes, it's the only way to improve.

Happy February!

DEMOS AND SKETCHES

Some of these are demos that I give to my students in class; others are just studies and sketches that I do when I get a chance to flee my cave.
